John Vega

In 2019, John Vega's season ended not on the pitch but on a training ground: he was seriously injured when fans attacked the Sport Boys training base. He had just come through the club that raised him.

Vega had joined the Sport Boys academy and made his debut in 2017 in Peru's second tier, helping the club climb to the top division by winning the play-off. He played in the first division in 2018. Then came the attack.

What followed was a career of short stays. He moved to Universidad San Martín in mid-2019 and stayed until early 2021. He was also at Deportivo Municipal from July 2019 to December 2022, where he put together more than 40 top-flight appearances.

In January 2023 he joined Deportivo Llacuabamba on a free transfer and stayed through 2024. Then 2025 saw him play for Comerciantes Unidos in the top flight from January to July, then Juan Pablo II College from July to November.

He arrived at ADT in January 2026. He made one appearance in the Peruvian top division, scoring no goals and providing no assists, and by the summer most sources had him signing for FC Cajamarca .

A right-footed midfielder who has operated both as a holding player and in central areas, Vega has spent his career between Peru's two senior divisions. No individual awards appear in public records, and there is no trace of him in Peru's national-team set-ups.
