About the player
Jorge Ordóñez has spent most of his career going back to the same place. He joined El Nacional in 2016 and stayed until 2020, then returned in 2022 for a second spell that lasted through 2024.
The gap between those two spells was filled by a single season away, in 2021, split between Nueve de Octubre and Guayaquil City, where he scored twice in eleven appearances. He came back to El Nacional as a free agent in March 2022 and won the Serie B title with the club that year. Cup football has its own rules, and El Nacional's Copa Ecuador win fell during that same second stint, in 2024.
His sharpest season in front of goal came in 2023, when he scored eight times in Ecuador's Serie A. Early in 2025 he moved on, joining Técnico Universitario as a free agent, then signed for Deportivo Cuenca on the same terms in June 2025. He has since appeared for Cuenca in the Copa Sudamericana and in Serie A fixtures.
He has never been called up to Ecuador's national team.
