About the player
Juan Cruz Cortazzo made his first-team debut for Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata on 23 July 2024, in a 0-1 defeat to San Lorenzo. The defender came through the club's youth system and signed his first professional contract two months later, in September 2024, running to the end of 2027.
Since then he has featured 14 times in the Argentine league and once in the domestic cup for Gimnasia, without scoring. In August 2026 he suffered a grade-two injury to the biceps femoris in his right leg, which is expected to keep him out for three to five weeks.
Cortazzo has not been called up to any Argentina national team.
