Juan Valencia

Juan Valencia broke into senior football with Leones FC, the Itagüí club where he spent his first two professional seasons before Colombian sides Internacional de Bogotá and La Equidad took turns fielding him through 2025 and into 2026. Neither stint produced a lasting home: La Equidad was dissolved in December 2025, closing that chapter almost as soon as it had opened.

Valencia's move abroad came in July 2026, when he signed for Necaxa in Mexico's Liga MX. The switch put him in a more competitive environment than he had faced in Colombia, and he needed only a handful of appearances to open his account there, scoring in his first three league matches for the club. He also found the net in the Leagues Cup, giving him goals in two different competitions within his opening weeks in Mexican football.

The forward has yet to earn a senior cap for Colombia, though his form drew enough attention to see him invited to observe the national team's preparations around the 2026 World Cup. That recognition has not yet translated into international minutes, leaving his first cap still to come.

At 22, Valencia's career so far has been defined by movement — three clubs across two countries inside little more than a year — but also by an immediate return in front of goal whenever he has been given a run of games. Necaxa now represents his first extended opportunity outside Colombia, and how he builds on that early scoring streak in Liga MX will shape whether the interest from the national setup turns into anything more concrete.
