About the player
Two Italian clubs took a look at Júlíus Már Júlíusson in 2022, the same year he made his senior debut. Torino and Hellas Verona each gave him a trial; neither offered a contract, and he returned to the Icelandic second tier to keep building.
That decision looks sound in hindsight. Júlíus had joined the youth setup at Fjölnir in April 2019, arriving from Vængir Júpiters, and he broke into the senior side in the Lengjudeildin in 2022. Over three seasons there he was named in the division's Team of the Year and, in 2024, was voted its Promising Player.
The move up followed in early 2025, when he signed for KR Reykjavík in the Besta deild karla. The fee was not made public. He made his top-flight debut for the club that April.
His stay in Reykjavík proved short. In January 2026 he joined Kristiansund BK on a free transfer.
Internationally, he has played for Iceland at under-19 and under-21 level. He has yet to win a senior honour.
