About the player
Fernández signed for Argentinos Juniors in January 2026 as a free agent. He came through the youth ranks at Defensa y Justicia, making his first-team debut on 23 May 2009, and spent his early twenties shuttling between Ferro Carril Oeste and a brief loan spell at Mexico's Tijuana before a return to Defensa.
A loan to Guatemala's Comunicaciones in January 2014 produced an immediate title, the Clausura 2014, before a move to Godoy Cruz kept him in Argentine football. That switch delivered the most decorated spell of his career: a Copa Sudamericana in 2017 and the Recopa Sudamericana in 2018.
After a loan at Vélez Sarsfield, Fernández left Argentina for Brazil's Internacional in September 2020, then moved again on loan to Uruguay's Nacional in 2021, where he won the Supercopa Uruguaya and the Primera División title. He returned to Independiente in early 2022 and scored eight league goals in 21 appearances that year. A free transfer took him to Universidad de Chile in 2023, where he added the Copa Chile in 2024 to his collection before this year's move to Argentinos Juniors.
He has never been capped by Argentina at any level.
