About the player
Two years ago Lucas Lamella was playing amateur football in the Liga Amateur Platense, turning out for Gonnet. On 2 August 2026 he walked onto the pitch for Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata's first team in the Liga Profesional — at 16 years, seven months and 19 days old, making him the youngest player ever to debut for the club's senior side.
The path between those two points ran through Gimnasia's own academy. After leaving Gonnet, Lamella joined the club's youth system and worked his way up through the reserve side, Gimnasia La Plata II, where he played across the 2025 season and into the start of 2026 before earning a place in the first-team squad.
