About the player
On 10 December 2023, Max Normann Williamsen wore the armband as Kristiansund BK beat Vålerenga and won promotion back to the Eliteserien.
The route in was short. He spent ten years in the youth system at Clausenengen FK, until 2017, before moving in 2018 to the Kristiansund BK academy — the elite side for players coming out of his old club. In September of that year he signed his first professional contract.
His Eliteserien debut came in September 2020. What followed was not an immediate breakthrough: in June 2021 Kristiansund sent him to Levanger FK, then in the 2. divisjon, on loan for the rest of the season to get him playing. He made 12 league appearances there. From the 2021/2022 season onwards he was a regular starter back at Kristiansund.
Norway have called on him at five youth levels — 19 caps in all. One came at U16 in 2019, four at U17 the following year, then nine at U18 during 2021. He added three at U20 across 2022 and 2023, scoring once, and two at U21 in 2023. He has not played for the senior side.
Sportswriter Eirik Hoseth has called him "one of the best defenders in the Eliteserien on his day". No individual award has followed — no Player of the Year, nothing formal. What he does have is length of service: few in the current Kristiansund squad have been there longer.
