Orlando David Gill Noldin

Two penalties, saved in front of Germany. In the round of 32 at the 2026 World Cup, Orlando Gill kept out efforts from Kai Havertz and Nick Woltemade to send Paraguay through 4-3 on penalties, after a match that finished 1-1 through extra time and included a German goal disallowed for a foul on the goalkeeper himself. He was named Man of the Match.

That was the loudest night of a tournament in which he made 28 saves across five matches — more than any other goalkeeper at the finals. He was included in the World Cup Rising Stars Team of the Tournament.

Gill did not start out between the posts. He played as a midfielder at Club 13 de Junio before joining the youth academy of Club Sportivo San Lorenzo in 2013, where he moved into goal. He signed his first professional contract there in 2019 and made three senior appearances before leaving in 2023.

The move to Argentina came in 2024, first on loan to San Lorenzo de Almagro's reserve side, where he played 12 matches, then into the first team. He became the starting goalkeeper in 2025 and made 54 league appearances through to the end of the 2025/26 season, along with cup and continental fixtures.

In August 2026 he joined Lille OSC in Ligue 1 on a five-year contract, for a reported fee of €3.6 million. San Lorenzo kept a 50 per cent sell-on clause in the deal.
