About the player
On 9 February 2026, FIFA approved a change of sporting nationality that Maurício Magalhães Prado out of the Brazilian system and into Paraguay's. At the 2026 World Cup he came off the bench against the United States and scored on 73 minutes.
He began at Desportivo Brasil in 2019 without playing a league match, then moved to Cruzeiro in November of that year for around 800,000 reais.
In November 2020 Cruzeiro and Internacional agreed a swap: Maurício went to Porto Alegre, the forward William Pottker went the other way, and Cruzeiro collected 1.2m reais while keeping 40 per cent of his economic rights, down from 60.
Palmeiras paid roughly €10.5m for him in the summer of 2024, with Internacional retaining half his economic rights. He has won the Campeonato Paulista twice there, in 2024 and 2026.
