About the player
The one goal Ramón Sosa Acosta has scored for Paraguay came at the Copa América in 2024, against Costa Rica on 2 July. Paraguay lost the match 1–2.
Sosa was born in Maracaná, where he played 31 matches and scored four goals across 2020 and 2021. A move to Olimpia followed for around €0.8m, and he left with two trophies from a single season: the Paraguayan Cup and the Paraguayan Super Cup, both in 2021.
Argentina came next. Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata paid $1.3m for him in February 2022, and he made 42 appearances there with six goals. In January 2023, Talleres of Córdoba bought half of his economic rights for $2.3m, with a commitment to pay Gimnasia 10 per cent of any future sale. In 2024 he received the Arsenio Erico award as the best Paraguayan player in Argentina.
The move to Nottingham Forest in August 2024 cost roughly €12m. He played 23 matches in England and scored three goals before Palmeiras signed him in July 2025 for a fixed €12.5m, with bonuses that could take the fee to €14m. His contract runs to the middle of 2030.
At Palmeiras he wears number 19 and won the Campeonato Paulista in 2026.
