About the player
Oleksandr Filippov was born in Avdiivka and started out in the Arsenal Kyiv academy, working his way to six appearances for the first team before the move to senior football took him through Illichivets, NPGU-Makeeuvol and Avangard Kramatorsk.
The breakthrough came at Desna. Signed as a free agent in July 2016, Filippov spent four years in Chernihiv, scoring 44 times in 112 matches — a return that eventually earned him a move abroad.
In September 2020, Belgian side Sint-Truiden paid €1.5 million for him on a three-year deal.
Filippov returned to Ukrainian football in 2023 with Dnipro-1, scoring nine goals in 23 matches, then moved on as a free agent to Oleksandriya in the summer of 2024, where he found the net ten times in 27 appearances.
In June 2025 he signed for Polissya on a free transfer, agreeing a contract running to the end of June 2027. Since then he has made 22 appearances for the Zhytomyr club, scoring four goals.
