Gabriel Omar Carabalí Quiñonez

In the 2020 CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic tournament, Omar Carabalí played four matches for Chile's under-23 side and scored twice.

Born in Guayaquil, Carabalí has lived in Chile since childhood, taking up permanent residency there and later naturalising. His football began at the Independiente José Terán academy between 2012 and 2013, before he moved into the Colo-Colo system. He spent five years in the club's youth ranks and made his first-team debut in 2015, remaining on the books until 2024.

Those Colo-Colo years brought titles. He was a squad member for the 2015-A and 2017 Transición championships as a back-up, and part of the side that won the 2022 Chilean league. Cup medals accumulated too — the Copa Chile in 2019, 2021 and 2023, and the Supercopa in 2017, 2022 and 2024. He went out on loan repeatedly: San Luis in 2020–21, Unión La Calera in 2023, then Audax Italiano in 2024, where he did not appear in a single competitive fixture.

The move to O'Higgins at the start of 2025 changed that. He became the first-choice goalkeeper and played 28 league matches in his opening season, conceding ten goals and keeping five clean sheets.

Internationally, Carabalí was called into Chile's under-20 squad in 2017 for the South American Championship and the World Cup without getting on the pitch. In October 2020, Reinaldo Rueda named him in the senior squad for World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay and Colombia; he did not play. His change of nationality in 2026 marked a new chapter.
