Paul Jaeckel

Paul Jaeckel came through FC Stahl Eisenhüttenstadt and Energie Cottbus before Wolfsburg took him on, and he worked his way up through the club's reserve side, helping VfL Wolfsburg II to the Regionalliga Nord title. He made his senior Bundesliga debut for Wolfsburg in 2018, playing three top-flight matches before the club let him leave on a free transfer to SpVgg Greuther Fürth, where he settled into a regular defensive role and made 44 first-team appearances, scoring once.

A free move to 1. FC Union Berlin in April 2021 followed, and that summer he was named in Germany's squad for the U21 European Championship. The team won the tournament, beating Portugal in the final, though Jaeckel did not feature in that match himself. His time in Berlin lasted several seasons, interrupted by a loan spell at Eintracht Braunschweig during the 2024/25 campaign.

In July 2025, Jaeckel moved to Preußen Münster for a mid six-figure fee, where he now wears the number 3 shirt as a centre-back. A further move is already in place beyond that: he is due to join 1. FC Magdeburg on a free transfer in July 2026, where he will switch to the number 6. Alongside his senior career, Jaeckel worked his way through Germany's youth setup, collecting caps at U18, U19, U20 and U21 level on his way to that continental title with the U21s.
