Petter Strand

Petter Strand's route to Vålerenga ran through three promotions and two clubs that shaped him before he ever put on the Oslo shirt. Born in Bergen, he started out at Tertnes and Fyllingsdalen, making his senior debut for the latter in 2013. A move to Sogndal followed a year later, and in 2015 the club won the 1. divisjon to go up to the Eliteserien, with Strand a contributor across 55 appearances and four goals in Sogndal colours.

His breakthrough came at Molde, whom he joined on a free transfer in January 2016. Over three seasons he made 76 appearances and scored seven goals, though he left the club in January 2019, shortly before Molde went on to win the Eliteserien title without him. He then spent three seasons at Brann, playing 78 matches and scoring nine goals.

Strand signed for Vålerenga in January 2022. He has since become an established part of the side, passing 120 appearances for the club and reaching 13 goals, and in 2024 he added a second promotion medal to his collection as Vålerenga won the OBOS-ligaen. His contract in Oslo runs to the end of 2027.

At international level, Strand represented Norway's under-21 side between 2014 and 2016, collecting 13 caps and two goals. Across his career in club football he has made 348 appearances and scored 37 goals.
