About the player
Before he settled anywhere, Rodrigo Conceição moved through the academies of Belenenses, Olhanense, Imortal, Anadia and Boavista as a boy, and only found a home when Benfica took him in at fifteen. He turned professional with Benfica B, then crossed to Porto's reserve side in 2020, a move that eventually opened the door to the first-team squad.
A loan at Moreirense preceded his breakthrough season, 2022/23, when he made Porto's senior squad and came away with two trophies, the Taça da Liga and the Taça de Portugal, plus a pair of Champions League appearances. By 2023 he had left Portugal altogether, joining Zurich as a free agent. Two full seasons in the Swiss Super League followed, each one worth around 26 league appearances, before the two sides parted by mutual consent.
He returned home in December 2025, signing for Tondela on a free transfer. It was there that he had his most visible individual moment: he scored an important goal against Santa Clara.
Conceição had already worn Portugal's colours at every youth level from under-16 to under-21.
