In 2021 Ronaldo da Silva Souza looked set to join Fluminense. The deal collapsed when Shimizu S-Pulse raised their offer, and he spent the next two years in Japan, where he played 75 matches and scored once.

He came through the Flamengo academy and was on the senior books from 2015 to 2021, making 68 appearances without a goal. That period brought him the bulk of his medals: the Campeonato Carioca in 2017 and again in 2019, and, in that same 2019 season, both the Copa Libertadores and the Brazilian championship.

Loans filled the gaps. A short spell at Atlético-GO in 2017 produced nine matches. The longer stay was at Bahia between 2019 and 2021 — 52 matches, one goal, and the Campeonato Baiano in 2020.

He left Flamengo as a free agent, and returned from Japan to sign for Juventude in 2024, playing 14 matches and scoring twice between August and December. Internacional took him on a free transfer in January 2025 on a contract running to the end of 2026.

By the middle of 2026 he had made 52 appearances for Internacional with one goal.

Fitness has interrupted the run. Knee and muscle problems across 2025 and 2026 cost him spells ranging from weeks to months, the longest of them a knee injury that kept him out from October 2025 until January 2026.

He has not been called up by the senior Brazil squad.
