About the player
Tony Reitz grew up in Duisburg and started out at TuS Baerl before Borussia Mönchengladbach brought him into their academy at the age of seven. A brief detour took him to FC Viktoria Köln and then SG Unterrath, before Gladbach called him back into their youth setup, where he settled as a defensive midfielder with central midfield as a fallback option.
He turned professional with Borussia Mönchengladbach II, making 29 appearances and scoring three goals for the reserve side between 2023 and 2025. From there he moved on to Borussia Dortmund II, before joining 1. FC Magdeburg.
Reitz has represented German youth sides at U17 and U19 level. His older brother, Rocco Reitz, plays for RB Leipzig and has been capped by Germany's U21 side — a family connection that has occasionally blurred the two brothers' records in public reporting, though Tony's own path has run through the lower Bundesliga age groups rather than the senior international stage.
At 189cm, he offers the physical profile of a holding midfielder, built to screen the back line and dictate play from deep, with the versatility to shift into a more central role when needed.
