Ammerud

The league title came later and under a different shirt: in 2000-01, playing as Oslo Kings after the elite men's side had been split off from the parent club, Ammerud's team beat Kongsberg Penguins 3-2 in the playoffs to take the BLNO championship. The name Oslo Kings lasted only briefly — a 2002 merger with Vålerenga turned it into Vålerenga Kings, and the Ammerud Basket name did not return until 2007.

The basketball section grew out of Ammerud Idrettsforening, the neighbourhood sports club founded in 1970, though the club's own website counts from 1972. Torgeir Bryn, the only Norwegian to reach the NBA, started out at Ammerud in the late 1970s and picked up his cup medals and league title there before it briefly wore the Kings badge. He came back for a second spell from 2007 to 2010, by then sharing the court with his son, Martin.

Green and white remain the club's colours, and home games are still played at Apalløkka, a school gymnasium rather than an arena built for the purpose. The Oslo derby against Oppsal and against Centrum Tigers is where the rivalry runs deepest.
