Turan holds 9,300 and sits in Nukus, the Karakalpakstan capital far out on the delta where the Aral Sea used to reach — a fact the club has built its whole identity around rather than hidden from. The team took the sea's name outright and the nickname that goes with it, Sailors, in a city where the water it references has been retreating for decades.

Aral itself is a young side, founded in 2021, though football in Nukus did not start with it: Soviet-era predecessors played under names like Amudarya and Turan without ever troubling the top of the table, their best finish a 14th place in the USSR Second League in 1978. The current club carries none of their honours — no national title, no cup — and has built its case differently, currently top of Uzbekistan's Pro League A in the 2026 season and pushing for promotion rather than looking back at old results.

Squad turnover has been heavy from the start, with the club regularly drawing in experienced players from other regions rather than relying on its own academy. Azamat Allaniyazov has been the closest thing to a constant reference point up front, with more than 95 league appearances and 26 goals across a career that also took him through Nasaf and Bukhoro before he wore Aral's blue and white.

None of that changes what Turan is: a mid-sized ground built for a mid-sized club, in a city whose relationship with the sea it is named after is now mostly historical.
