Kattaqurgon

Kattaqurgon go into the 2026 season in Pro League A, Uzbekistan's second tier, after winning the Western Division of the First League in 2025 — the club's first taste of professional football in more than fifteen years. The Cup campaign has already given a measure of the gap: a 0-3 group-stage defeat to Pakhtakor Tashkent.

The name has moved as often as the club's fortunes. Founded in 1992, the side has played as Miyonqol, as Dinamo Kattaqurgon and as Dostlik Kattaqurgon, the changes tracking its drift between professional and amateur status rather than any single identity. As Miyonqol it won the Uzbek Second League in 2005; as Dinamo it held a regular place in the First League through the late 2000s. The 2009 season broke that run — the professional licence lapsed, and Kattaqurgon spent the next years in the Samarkand regional amateur leagues, its clearest mark there a 2016 youth-league title won 2-1 against IBUSM.

The club draws on Samarkand region rather than the city itself. Its home ground in Kattaqurgon is being rebuilt, so the 2026 fixtures are being played an hour up the road in Samarkand, at the Olimpiya stadium — also known as the Afrosiyob Arena — which holds 12,500. No crest, no colours and no club website appear in any record that will stand scrutiny; a Telegram channel run by supporters, @fc_kattaqurgon, is the closest thing to an official line while the ground at home awaits its reopening.
