Jayxun

Before Jayxun, there was NOZK Nukus, and the switch of name marks the only real turning point this club has behind it — the rebrand landed in 2023, though some records still trace the operation back a year earlier under the old banner.

Home games are played at the Turon stadium in Nukus, a 9,300-seat ground that gives the club a proper base in a city more often associated with its position on the map — out near the Aral Sea's old shoreline — than with football. Aibek Nurbaev took charge of the team as head coach, and between them they have had to build a squad largely from scratch rather than inherit one. Forward Shukhrat Darbabaev is the name most associated with the attack, while the midfield has leaned on Aibek Sdikov and Sardor Khidirboev to carry the ball forward.

None of that has produced silverware yet, and nothing in the club's short record suggests it should be expected soon. What Jayxun has instead is geography: Nukus sits far enough from Uzbekistan's football centres that away trips for Pro League A opponents amount to a genuine journey, and the return fixtures against the other Karakalpakstan and western-region sides carry the sharper edge that comes from proximity rather than history.
