Metalourg

Two Uzbek SSR Cups, in 1985 and 1990, remain the only silverware Metalourg have to show for eight decades in Bekabad — everything since has been about survival in the lower divisions rather than another run at a trophy. In the independent championship the club's peak was a fifth place in the Superliga, reached in 2002 and again in 2018, either side of years spent grinding through the First League.

The club was founded in 1945, tied from the start to the steel town it plays in. For two seasons, in 1992 and 1993, it played under the name Madanchi before reverting to Metalourg in 1994. In 1997 a second-place finish in the First League earned promotion back among Uzbekistan's top clubs, a route the team would have to retrace more than once in the years that followed.

Server Djeparov, a nine-time champion of Uzbekistan and twice named the continent's best player, spent part of 2019 at the club, though by then his 9 appearances and 2 goals were a coda to a career built elsewhere. More telling of the club's own history is Hikmat Khashimov, who worked through 202 matches for Metalourg between 2004 and 2018, or Zokhid Abdullaev, whose 67 goals stand among the highest tallies anyone has managed in the shirt. Rustam Mirsadykov held the manager's job for nearly a decade, from 2008 to 2017, longer than anyone else who has taken charge.

Locally the fixture that matters is the derby against Tsementchi, another Bekabad side; further afield, Gazalkent and Angren carry the old regional rivalries. By 2025 the club had ceased to exist in its previous legal form, and the Metalourg name returned in 2026 in Pro League A, the second tier, still based at the stadium named after A. Anokhin, rebuilt in 2012 to hold 15,000 in the town that gave the club its name.
