Auto Esporte PB U20

Six state championships put Auto Esporte in fourth place among Paraíba's most successful clubs, and the 1992 title took extra time to settle. The 1987 championship carried its own weight: it ended 29 years without a trophy, beaten that time by Botafogo-PB, the same rival Auto Esporte had overcome in 1956 across a best-of-three series and again in 1990. The very first title, in 1939, came without a single defeat.

The club took shape in João Pessoa on 7 September 1936, founded by taxi drivers, and the red and white shirt still carries the nickname it earned from that start: O Clube do Povo, the People's Club. The Assembleia Legislativa da Paraíba marked the anniversary with a formal session in 2026, ninety years on from that founding.

Auto Esporte's reach went further than the state. In 1959 it became the first club from Paraíba to play in a national competition, the Taça Brasil, and in 1993 the first from the state to win a match in the Copa do Brasil, beating Paysandu 2–1. A third-place finish in the Série C followed in 1992. In 2000 the club travelled to Europe and North Africa for a series of friendlies, facing Elche, Córdoba, Atlético de Madrid and Unión Deportiva Melilla.

Matches are played at the Almeidão, José Américo de Almeida Filho stadium, while the club's own headquarters sit at the Mangabeirão in the Mangabeira district. Beyond the senior side, Auto Esporte has built a strong record at youth level, with eight Campeonato Paraibano Sub-20 titles to its name, the most recent honours coming from the second division, won in 2006 and again in 2024 after the club had dropped down a tier.
