Sousa U20

Every player who takes the field in green and white for Sousa Esporte Clube's Sub-20 side in the Campeonato Paraibano knows the shirt is on loan: force a place in the first team that plays at the Marizão, or move on. The crest is the same one the senior squad has carried to four state titles since 1994, and it is that route upward, more than any fixture list of its own, that gives the youth side its purpose.

The club was founded on 10 July 1991, the same date the city of Sousa marks its own founding anniversary. Its nickname, Dinossauro — shortened to Dino, with Verdão and Dinossauro do Sertão as looser variants — comes from the same early years and has outlasted them.

Matches are played at the Estádio Municipal Governador Antônio Mariz, known around Sousa as Marizão, which holds 14,000 and sits in the town of Sousa, in the Sertão of Paraíba state.

The senior side has not gone long between honours: Campeonato Paraibano titles in 1994 and 2009 were followed by back-to-back wins in 2024 and 2025, then a Recopa Paraibana in 2026. The record began earlier still, in the club's first season, when Sousa won the 1991 Segunda Divisão and stepped up to the state's top flight before the year it was founded had even finished.
