Baglan grew out of a merger of local sides, taking shape as Red Dragon & Baglan before the village club settled into its own identity. It formed in 1950, and the name changed twice more in the years that followed — Baglan Red Dragons from 2004, then Baglan Dragons in 2009 — each shift marking a club still working out what it wanted to be.

Progress came in stages, mostly through the lower reaches of the Welsh pyramid. The old Red Dragon & Baglan side won Division Two of the South Wales Amateur League in 2002/03, and two decades later the rebuilt Dragons took the South Wales Alliance League Premier Division. The bigger step followed in 2022/23: a 2-0 win over Risca United in the Ardal Southern play-off sent Baglan up into Cymru South, the second tier of the Welsh football pyramid, where the club has stayed since.

Manager Paul Evans took charge in 2018, arriving after spells at Port Talbot Town and Tata Steel, and the promotion push carried a familiar name from that same corner of the game: forward Jordan Evans, whose 35 goals in 27 appearances during the 2018/19 season included the strike that settled a decisive play-off tie. Ahead of the 2024/25 season, Baglan Dragons merged with the Baglan Boys & Girls Club, bringing the club's playing base to more than 500.

Matches are played at Evans Bevan Playing Fields, a ground that holds 1,000, in Baglan — part of Port Talbot on the South Wales coast.
