Barra SC U20

The final of the 2026 Campeonato Catarinense Sub-20 pitted Barra against Criciúma, a repeat of the same fixture two years earlier. In 2024 that final had gone the other way, Barra finishing runners-up. What happened this time is not settled in the record — the result never comes through cleanly, only the fact of the return meeting itself.

The Sub-20 side is not a club in its own right but one tier of the youth structure that Barra Futebol Clube keeps alongside its Sub-15 and Sub-17 teams. The Sub-17s have had the better of recent finals, beating Chapecoense for the state title in 2026, their second such win after 2022.

Barra FC itself is a young club, founded on 18 January 2013. A Série C title in 2015, unbeaten, took the club into the second tier of the state championship; an unbeaten Série B campaign in 2021 did the same at the next level up. In 2025 Barra won the Campeonato Brasileiro Série D, beating Santa Cruz over two legs, and in 2026 it went further still, taking the Campeonato Catarinense's top flight for the first time — a 3-2 aggregate win over Chapecoense that survived a 0-1 defeat in the second leg.

Since 2025 the first team has played at Arena Barra FC, known locally as the Estádio do Pescador, built in Itajaí near the training centre in Balneário Camboriú and holding 5,500. Before that the club used the Estádio Doutor Hercílio Luz. The nickname, Pescador — fisherman — points back to the coast the club calls home, the same stretch of Santa Catarina where the Sub-20s met Criciúma again this year.
