Figueirense U20

Rogério Micale took a Santa Catarina side to the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior in 2008 and came back with the trophy, beating Rio Branco-SP 2–0 in the final. No club from the state had won the tournament before.

At state level the record is heavy with familiar opponents. Seven Campeonato Catarinense Sub-20 titles have come since 1985, and three of those finals were won against Criciúma — 2002, 2007, 2009. The 2006 final was a derby with no love lost: Avaí, the neighbours from the same city, whose meetings with Figueirense are known as the Clássico da Capital. When Santa Catarina launched a Sub-20 version of its cup competition in 2016, Figueirense won that too, seeing off Chapecoense.

The youngsters play at Estádio Orlando Scarpelli, the senior ground in the Estreito district that gives the club one of its nicknames, Furacão do Estreito. It holds 19,584.
