Brusque U20

The under-20s spend their seasons split between two competitions — the Campeonato Brasileiro Sub-20 Série B and the Catarinense Sub-20 — and their best day so far came in 2024, when they reached the final of the Copa Santa Catarina Sub-20.

What the academy does have is Jorginho. He passed through the Brusque youth system in 2006 and 2007, and the rest of it — Verona, Napoli, Chelsea, Arsenal, Flamengo, a Champions League and a European Championship with Italy — happened somewhere else entirely. Brusque had him for two years.

The senior club that sits above all this was assembled in 1987 out of two local sides, Paysandu-SC and Carlos Renaux. Four colours came out of that merger — yellow, white, red and green — and with them the name everyone uses, Quadricolor. The supporters prefer Bruscão. The mascot is a duck.

The senior team took the Campeonato Catarinense in 1992 and again in 2022, thirty years apart, and won the Campeonato Brasileiro Série D in 2019. The rivalries that matter run along the Vale do Itajaí — Marcílio Dias, Metropolitano, Carlos Renaux.

Estádio Augusto Bauer holds 5,000, and that figure sets the scale of everything above: a town ground in Santa Catarina where the under-20s play in front of whoever turns up.
