Criciuma U20

Criciúma sits in the coal belt of southern Santa Catarina, and the club that carries the town's name wears the trade on its shirt: yellow, black and white, adopted in 1984. The club had already been running for decades by then under a different name — Comerciário Esporte Clube, founded on 13 May 1947, renamed Criciúma EC on 2 April 1978.

What put a mining town of that size on the national map was the Copa do Brasil of 1991.

Eleven years later came Série B. Paulo Baier scored a hat-trick in the decisive match against Fortaleza, which took the club back up.

The state championship is where the trophies pile up: 12 Campeonato Catarinense titles, the first in 1968, the most recent back to back in 2023 and 2024. Those runs put Criciúma against Avaí, and against Figueirense.

Home is the Estádio Heriberto Hülse, 19 225 seats, known as the Majestoso.

The name that travelled furthest belongs to a striker who spent 1995 and 1996 here: Mário Jardel.
