«Gals in Green»
Cedar Stars Academy launched the USL W League women's side in 2022 as part of its inaugural season, giving the organisation an obvious next step: a senior women's side to sit alongside the men's team, Cedar Stars Rush.
The club plays out of the Capelli Sport Complex, whose grandstand field lies some way from Cedar Stars' registered base in South Hackensack, New Jersey. Supporters call the side "Gals in Green," a nickname that leaves little doubt about the shirt colour even where the club has not laid out its full palette in detail.
Cedar Stars competes in the Metropolitan Division of the USL W League. Progress there has been steady rather than dramatic: a third-place finish in the division in 2023, two years after Cedar Stars Rush reached second place in the men's Metropolitan Conference. Between the two teams, the runners-up spot remains the closest either has come to a title. No major trophy has yet gone to South Hackensack.
