Diepkloof Women

When Mmakgotso Lepota put away the winning goal in the 2025 SAFA Women's National Championship final, it settled more than a trophy. The club had spent years working its way up through the Sasol League from a corner of Soweto, and that goal sent it into the Hollywoodbets Super League for the first time.

The club exists because Peter Mafa, known around Diepkloof as "Coach Chansa," started out coaching girls at Ipolokeng Primary School and decided the work needed a proper home. That was 2011. It now sits under the Marumo Cares women's empowerment programme run by Marumo Gallants FC.

Wits University and First Touch have both picked off Diepkloof-developed talent over the years, and the club has kept producing more anyway.

There is no single home ground. Provincial matches were played at Eldorado Secondary School; the Super League fixtures moved to the UJ Soweto Stadium on the University of Johannesburg's campus, a venue that belongs first to the university's own women's team.
