Esenler Erokspor

Esenler Erokspor's basketball side grew out of a football club that had existed since 1959. The parent organisation added a basketball branch in 2022, and the team went straight into the Turkish Basketball Second League for the 2022–2023 season. Its home in the lower divisions was the Ahmet Cömert Sport Hall, which holds roughly 3,000 to 4,000, before a move to the 16,000-seat Sinan Erdem Dome.

The rise came quickly. In 2024–25 the team, coached by Ender Arslan, won the Türkiye Basketbol Ligi, the second tier, beating MKE Ankaragücü 3–0 in the playoff finals. The deciding game finished 97–82 on 19 May 2025 and secured promotion to the Basketbol Süper Ligi for the first time. Two months later Ufuk Sarıca replaced Arslan, and the club, now sponsored by Safiport and often called Safiport Erokspor, prepared for the top flight with Yunus Emre Sonsırma as captain. Petr Cornelie, a French international and former EuroLeague champion, and the Canadian guard Kevin Pangos are among the players linked with the club.

The debut top-flight season ended with 17 wins and 13 defeats and eighth place in the regular season. That was enough for a playoff spot, where Fenerbahçe Beko won the quarterfinal 2–0. Erokspor had no established rivalry with Istanbul's older clubs to draw on. The eighth-place finish still earned a place in the FIBA Europe Cup for 2026–27, the club's first European competition. The draw put them in Group C with Sporting CP, Rilski Sportist, Kolossos Rodou, Universitatea Craiova and Gence.

Erokspor became the 89th club in the history of the Basketbol Süper Ligi.
