Gorilla Of The Universe

The Macau Olympic Complex Stadium in Taipa holds just over 16,000 people, and Gorilla of the Universe shares that ground with several other clubs chasing the same small circuit of Macau football. The name itself, rendered in Chinese as 新科宇宙之猩, carries the same cosmic reach as the English version: Cosmic Gorilla.

GD Artilheiros went up alongside them as runners-up, but it is Gorilla of the Universe who arrive at the top flight for 2026 with no prior top-division pedigree to draw on.

The squad built for that step up mixes local and foreign personnel: captain Man-Hei Chan marshals the defence, while the forward line leans on imported firepower in Eden Nrick and Chak-Man Vong. Manager Cai Wenfan takes charge of a group that has never had to test itself against the division's established sides.

That test now comes against opponents like Macau Chiba FC, another of the newer clubs occupying the Liga de Elite alongside older, more settled names. No fixture between them yet carries the weight of a derby, but a debut top-flight season against clubs built on similarly short histories is where any rivalry for Gorilla of the Universe will have to be made, not inherited.
