Cheng Fung

Cheng Fung go into the Liga de Elite still chasing the one trophy that has eluded them, the league title, even as their name has become a fixture of Macau cup finals. Three runner-up finishes there since 2018 tell their own story of a club that keeps reaching the last match without quite landing the bigger prize.

Founded in 1988, Cheng Fung built their identity around the Taça de Macau, and in 2019 they finally got the better of it, beating Chao Pak Kei on penalties after the final had finished 2–2. Goalkeeper Fong Chi Hang saved two spot-kicks that afternoon.

Chao Pak Kei has become the opponent that keeps reappearing when it matters, the two sides meeting repeatedly in cup finals without either association ever attaching a proper derby name to it. Defender U-Hin Cheang, the club's captain, has anchored the side through these years while also representing Macau at international level, one of several Cheng Fung players to do so.

Home games are played at the Lin Fong Stadium, a tight ground that holds around 2,000 people, with a grandstand of 2,200 seats. Light blue and black remain the club's colours at home, lime green worn away.

The Chinese name, 青鋒, translates literally as Green Blade, though Cheng Fung has never adopted an English nickname to match it in wider use. What the club has instead is a pattern: three runner-up finishes in the Taça de Macau since 2018, and one final actually won.
