Hang Yuen

Jean-Marc Alexandre had already played in MLS by the time he arrived in New Taipei.

The club had taken its current shape only a year earlier. Founded in 2012 as Air Source Development FC, it played in the old Intercity Football League until Taiwanese football reorganised in 2017 around the new Taiwan Football Premier League. The relaunch came with a new name, borrowed from the company that had become sponsor of Fu Jen Catholic University's football programme, and with it a new source of players: since that season the squad has been built largely around students and graduates of the university.

The AFC Cup campaign repeated itself in 2019, and both times ended the same way, fourth in the group, no route into the knockout rounds. In the league, Hang Yuen has finished third four times, in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2024, without ever going higher.

Tainan City TSG and Taichung Futuro have become the sides Hang Yuen measures itself against in the table, in the absence of any fixed derby.
