Hayq's first taste of Armenian football ended with a title. In 2024, the club won the Second League and earned promotion to the First League, where it climbed to third place with 22 wins and 68 points by the end of the 2025/2026 campaign, before slipping back to 13th as the following season opened.

The club was founded on 1 January 2023 in Spitak, though it plays nowhere near home. Its matches are staged at the Vanadzor Football Academy, a ground the club and the football federation refer to simply as VFA. Capacity is listed at around 1,000. A stadium in Spitak itself has been on the drawing board for 2026, but no ground-breaking had occurred by the time this was written.

The squad's most talked-about arrival came in March 2026, when Isaac Drogba signed for the club and took the number 22 shirt. A forward raised in Chelsea's academy with spells at Guingamp and La Louvière, he carries a surname that is well known in world football, being the son of Didier Drogba.
