Hill Country Linces Women

San Marcos sits in the Texas Hill Country, and until this year its football identity ran through one club: Hill Country Lobos, a boys' and men's setup that began in 1996 as Galaxia SC, an outreach project David Walding built around nonprofit work with unaccompanied minors. The rename to Lobos came in 2016, chosen to carry the idea of a wolfpack into the badge. Hill Country Linces Women is what that pack grew into in 2026, when the organisation added a women's side under its own name rather than folding it into the existing one.

Competition starts this summer in the USL W League's Lone Star Division, part of the league's Central Texas footprint. Tanya Noujaim took the head coach post in March, arriving to build a squad and a style from nothing rather than inherit one. Walding, who founded the parent club three decades ago, remains president, which keeps the Linces tied to the same outreach roots the Lobos were built on rather than treating the women's team as a separate venture.

Purple runs through the club's merchandise and kit, chosen as the Linces' own colour rather than borrowed from the Lobos. The name itself is Spanish for lynxes, plain and unadorned, with no separate nickname attached. Matches are played at Ingram Stadium on the San Marcos Academy campus, a ground built for school sport rather than a first-year expansion side, which shows in its size.
