Lonestar San Antonio shares an organisation with Lonestar Austin rather than a city, same badge, same front office, different postcode, meeting each other in the Lone Star Division of the USL W League's Southern Conference.
Executive Director Brian Monaghan's organisation announced the San Antonio expansion on 3 February 2025 ahead of that season.
Matches are played at the Paul McGinlay Soccer Field, Trinity University's stadium on Kings Court, and the kit for that first season came from adidas.
What the name carries is older than the club: Texas has called itself the Lone Star State since statehood, and the organisation took that for its own before San Antonio ever had a team to put on the field. The city side came after, in 2025, as the second place that name was asked to represent.
