The 2022/23 Ghana Premier League table listed a hundred entrants across its history, and Kotoku Royals were the hundredth club ever to reach it — then finished eighteenth out of eighteen. The Akim Oda Stadium, capacity 3,000, could not meet Ghana Football Association licensing standards for the top flight, so the club played its "home" fixtures at Cape Coast Stadium and, for a stretch, shared the Theatre of Dreams in Dawu with Dreams FC. Seven wins, five draws, eighteen losses, twenty-three points.

The promotion itself, in 2021/22, had been built on winning Division One League Zone Three, the club's only honour, under the Swiss coach Fritz Markus Schmid. Paolo Campagna took over in 2022 and inherited a squad already carrying the weight of Zone Three rivalries — Okwawu United remains the local derby, sharpened by proximity in the Eastern Region, while the promotion race itself had been fought against Tema Youth.

Founded in 2003 and cleared for professional football two years later, the club took two decades to reach the top flight and one season to leave it. Its CEO, Linford Asamoah Boadu, laid the relegation on preseason recruitment and refereeing decisions.

If one name outlasts the promotion and the drop, it is Richard Dzikoe, the club's all-time leading scorer, known locally as "Oda Vinicius".
