Mega Basket Belgrade

Belgrade has never been short of basketball.

It began as KK Avala Ada, formed by employees of the Avala Ada packaging plant. The direction changed in 2004, when Miško Ražnatović's BeoBasket agency took the club over. In December 2005, on its entry to the top-tier league, it became Mega Basket. Since then the name has been rewritten by sponsors again and again, and it currently reads Mega Superbet. The pink and white colours have stayed.

The academy is the reason for the club's reputation. Nikola Jokić, a two-time NBA MVP, came through it, and so did Vasilije Micić, the EuroLeague MVP. Ivica Zubac, Nikola Jović and Filip Petrusev are also among the alumni.

The trophy came in 2015–16, when Mega beat Partizan 86–80 in the final of the Serbian Cup, known as the Radivoj Korać Cup. The same season the team also finished as runners-up in the ABA League. The Serbian Super League runners-up place followed in 2020–21.

Between 2012 and 2019 the team had no home in Belgrade. Home games moved to Kruševac, then Smederevo, then Sremska Mitrovica, where the club stayed for five seasons. It returned to the capital in 2019. Today ABA League games are played in the Ranko Žeravica Sports Hall in New Belgrade, which holds 5,000. Serbian league games are staged at the Mega Factory Hall.
