«The Students»
The 1978–79 season remains the one Sarajevo talks about most: Bosna lifted the FIBA European Champions Cup, the only time a club from the city has reached the top of European basketball, with Mirza Delibašić central to the run just months after he had been named MVP of the 1978 World Championship. That European title sat alongside three Yugoslav league championships, taken in 1978, 1980 and 1983, and two Yugoslav cups.
The club grew out of the University Sports Society Bosna in 1951, which is why it still carries the nickname "The Students." Independence brought a different kind of competition, and Bosna adjusted to it: five Bosnian championships since 1999, most recently in 2025–26, and five Bosnian Cups. The 2023–24 and 2025–26 cup wins came within a run that also included another domestic title.
The derby against Spars still matters inside Sarajevo.
Delibašić gave the club its European peak and its cup its name; the hall where Bosna now plays, once known as Skenderija, carries his name too.
