Mes Soongoun

Hassan Azarnia took charge of a club that existed, in football terms, to carry the name of a copper company through the lower divisions. Mes Sungun had come into being on 1 May 2010 by taking over the licence of the dissolved Shahin Ahvaz, a route into the Iran 2nd Division rather than a birth of its own.

Promotion to the Azadegan League came in 2014. The 2022–23 season brought the 2nd Division title, achieved in orange, the colour the team wore without ever quite settling on a nickname of its own — "The Orange Tulips" belonged properly to the futsal section next door, the club's dominant enterprise, five times champion of the Iranian Futsal Super League and continental champion in 2018. In the Azadegan League, with no derby against Tabriz's bigger club Tractor S.C. to speak of.

The football side played its home matches in Tabriz, and after the 2024–25 season its licence passed to Karagostar Shabestar, who took the club forward in green. Mes Sungun the name stayed behind, attached now to futsal and the other sections still carrying the copper company's colours, at the sport where the story of that name had always really been written.
