Murcia

In the 2023-24 season UCAM Murcia reached the Liga ACB Finals and lost to Real Madrid. It was the best result in the club's history in Spain's top flight. Murcia had come into the game through the second tier, which they won three times, in 1997-98, 2002-03 and 2010-11, so the run to the final came after years of climbing the pyramid.

The club began in 1985 as Agrupación Deportiva Juver, a name that stayed in use as a nickname long after the sponsors changed. It was later Polaris World CB Murcia, and since 2013 it has belonged to the Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia. That ownership gave the team the name Los Universitarios.

Europe came before the final. In 2021-22 they reached the Copa del Rey Final Four, where they had also played in 1995-96.

Their local rival is Real Murcia Baloncesto. The "derbi murciano" is played with less heat than the football rivalry in the same city. Home games are held at the Palacio de Deportes, which seats 7,454 and can be expanded to nearly 9,000.

Augusto Lima, meanwhile, is the club's all-time top-rated player.
