Obradoiro CAB

Moncho Fernández took over in 2010 with Obradoiro in the second tier, and he stayed until 2024. In his first season the side won the LEB Oro playoffs and the Copa Príncipe de Asturias, and the promotion that followed put Santiago de Compostela back in the top flight. A Supreme Court ruling over Júver Murcia's improper alignment in 1990 had already reopened the way to the ACB. The club had played there once before, in 1982–83, and went down straight away.

The 2012–13 season was the best of Fernández's years in the ACB: Obradoiro reached the playoff quarter-finals. The club had begun in 1970 by taking over the licence of SD Compostela's basketball section to start in the third division. It became the team many in Galicia follow, known as "O equipo de Galicia". Its sharpest fixture is the Galician derby against CB Breogán of Lugo. A number of players used Santiago as a stepping stone, among them Maxi Kleber, Mike Muscala and Salah Mejri.

The stay lasted 13 years. In 2024 Obradoiro finished 17th in the ACB and went down, and Fernández left with the relegation.

Diego Epifanio, his successor, took charge of the drop into Primera FEB. On 8 May 2026 his side beat Gipuzkoa Basket 85–68 at the Fontes do Sar and secured automatic promotion as champions. Obradoiro now begins a new spell in the ACB, its first since that relegation.
