Volleyball in Nilüfer began as an offshoot of municipal sport in the district.

Those years came early. Nilüfer Belediyespor won the Balkan Cup in 2010–11, and backed it up the same season with a runners-up finish in the Turkish Cup. A third-place finish in the domestic cup had come the year before, so the Balkan Cup arrived on the back of a squad already competing near the top of the table rather than out of nowhere. More recently, the club reached the semi-finals of the CEV Challenge Cup in 2023–24.

Players have passed through and left their mark in different ways. Gizem Örge started her career at the club.

Nilüfer's own ground, the Bursa Atatürk Sport Hall, was pulled down in 2020, and the club has played its home matches since at the Cengiz Göllü Voleybol Salonu while a new hall, built to hold just over 5,000, takes shape for the district.
