For 13 years, from 2011 to 2024, Izmir had no side in the Sultanlar Ligi, Turkey's top women's volleyball division. The city's teams stayed in the lower tiers until Aras Kargo set up its own women's club there in 2023.

The first season was in the second-tier Kadınlar 1. Ligi. The team finished as runners-up, which was enough for promotion and ended the wait.

The top flight was harder. In 2024–25 Aras Kargo finished 11th with 8 wins and 24 points. Under the coach Suphi Doğancı, the following year went differently. The team came through the playoffs, beat Nilüfer Belediyespor in the 5th–8th place round and lost the 5th–6th place match to Galatasaray Daikin. Sixth place was enough to qualify for the 2026–27 CEV Women's Challenge Cup, the club's first European campaign.

The squad mixes imports with players from the club's own academy. The imports include the Italian Valentina Zago, the Serbian Jovana Ćirković and the American Annie Mitchem. Among the local players, Ecesu Soner and Nilsu Şen came through the academy and appear in the rosters. Fenerbahçe is the opponent the club measures itself against nationally. In the city, the rival is Göztepe, and the two meet in what is called the İzmir Derbisi.

The home games are played in the İzmir Atatürk Volleyball Hall in Alsancak, inside the Vestel sports complex. The club has used it for matches in aid of children affected by the 2023 earthquakes. The hall seats 5,500.
