Sultanlar Ligi Women (Turkey) 2026/27

The Sultanlar Ligi stands as the premier professional women’s volleyball competition in Turkey. Run by the Turkish Volleyball Federation (TVF), it sits at the apex of the national pyramid, feeding into the Kadınlar 1. Ligi below. The tournament began in 1984, taking over from the Turkish Women's Volleyball Championship that operated for nearly three decades prior.

Teams contest a double round-robin regular season, playing every opponent twice. After this phase, a playoff structure determines the outcome. The top four sides battle in best-of-3 series for ranking, while those placed fifth through eighth compete for classification. The championship itself is decided in a best-of-5 final. At the other end of the table, the two lowest-ranked clubs drop to the second tier, replaced by the two best performers from that level.

Eczacıbaşı Dynavit Women hold the record for success in the competition, claiming 16 titles. Their dominance began early, securing five consecutive championships between 1984–85 and 1988–89. The current reigning champion is VakıfBank, which captured its 15th title in the 2025–26 season.

The league has evolved significantly since its inception, adopting various sponsored names over the years. From Aroma Bayanlar Voleybol 1. Ligi to Vestel Venus Sultanlar Ligi, it now operates under the Vodafone Sultanlar Ligi banner, a designation adopted in 2023. This financial backing has positioned the league as a global powerhouse, attracting high-profile international talent and enabling Turkish clubs to dominate European competitions like the CEV Champions League.

While the men's equivalent, the Efeler Ligi, exists, the women's competition is frequently noted for its superior global profile and media attention. The influx of stars such as Kim Yeon-koung and Zhu Ting underscores the league's appeal. With plans to expand to 14 clubs for the 2026–27 season, the Sultanlar Ligi continues to solidify its status as a leading force in international volleyball.
