Fenerbahce Women

Sabiha Gürayman was the first Turkish woman architect, and she played volleyball. She founded the women's volleyball section at Fenerbahçe, and within a few years it was winning.

After that the section was hard to keep alive. It closed in 1977 for lack of money. From 1984 to 1989 it did not exist at all, and it was rebuilt from the Istanbul Third League. The team got back into the top flight in 2004.

The Sultanlar Ligi titles of 2009, 2010 and 2011 came first. In 2010 Fenerbahçe took the FIVB Club World Championship, and in 2012 it won the CEV Champions League, the season Kim Yeon-koung was named most valuable player. Fans call the team the Yellow Angels, Sarı Melekler, after the yellow of the kit.

The rivalry with Galatasaray has been lopsided. By February 2025 Fenerbahçe had won 101 of the meetings and lost 34. Eda Erdem Dündar captains the side, and it plays its home games in front of up to 7,000 people.

The section began with one woman who designed buildings and played the game.
