An airline side from Istanbul plays in the TVF Burhan Felek Vestel Voleybol Salonu alongside the city's older names: Fenerbahçe, Galatasaray, Eczacıbaşı and VakıfBank.

The women's team of Türk Hava Yolları Spor Kulübü, the sports club of Turkish Airlines, dates from 1979. It stopped after the 1993–94 season and withdrew from competition. In 2016 the club came back at the bottom, in the Women's Second League, and it did not stay there. It won that league in 2016–17, won the First League the season after, and by 2017–18 was in the top tier, the Sultanlar Ligi.

The trophies followed quickly. The BVA Cup came in 2019 and again in 2020. In 2020–21 THY won the CEV Challenge Cup and the Sultanlar Ligi in the same season, only four years after restarting in the second division. The Turkish Cup arrived in 2021–22 and again in 2023–24. In between, the CEV Cup went to Istanbul in 2022–23.

Magdalena Stysiak and Hanna Orthmann were among the imports.

In August 2024 Turkish Airlines registered a separate company, THY Spor A.Ş., to run its sport.
